Types of Adjective

 What is an Adjective?

An adjective is a word that modifies a noun or a pronoun. In general, the purpose of an adjective is to describe a noun or pronoun and provide more information about it. Adjective provied answere to a question such as "What kind?" "Which one?" and "Whose is it?"

Types of Adjectives :

  1. Proper adjective.
  2. Descriptive adjective.
  3. Quantitative adjective.
  4. Numeral adjective.
  5. Demonstrative adjective.
  6. Distributive adjective.
  7. Possessive adjective.
  8. Emphasizing adjective.
  9. Interrogative adjective.
  10. Exclamatory adjective.

1. Proper Adjective:-

An adjective formed from a proper noun and describing the characteristics of a proper noun is called a proper adjective.

Exp:- Hockey is an Indian game. 

2. Descriptive Adjective:-

An adjective that gives a general description of a noun's qualities, appearance, color, shape, etc., in a sentence is called a Descriptive Adjective. 

Exp:-  He is a tall student. 

3. Quantitative Adjective:- 

An adjective used to indicate quantity in a sentence is called a quantitative Adjective. Because this adjective is used to indicate quantity, we always use a material noun with it. Thesetypes os adjective 
are: 
Much, a good deal of, little, enough, all, no, some, some, all, most, any, etc.

Exp:- I have enough money.

4. Numeral Adjective:-

An adjective used to indicate a number in a sentence is called a numeral Adjective. Since this adjective is used to indicate a number, we always use a countable noun with it. There types of adjectives: some, few, whole, all, none, no, anfe, sufficient, etc.

Exp:- There are enough students in the class.

5. Demonstrative Adjective:- 

The adjective used in a sentence to describe a noun or pronoun that is near or far is called a Demonstrative Adjective. For example- This, that, those, other, such, etc. 

Exp:- Some boy has notes.

6. Distributive Adjective:- 

The adjective that is used in a sentence to indicate each, one, or none of two or more things or persons is called a distributive adjective. For example- Each, every, either, neither. 

Exp:- Each boy has finished his work.

7. Possessive Adjective:- 

An adjective used to indicate possession or relationship is called a possessive adjective. All nouns and pronouns in the possessive case are called possessive adjectives. 
See- My, our, her, his, their, etc.

Exp:- This is my car.

8. Emphasizing Adjective:-

An adjective used to emphasize a noun in a sentence is called an Emphasizing Adjective. For example- Very, own.

Exp:- He saw his beloved in the park with his own eyes.

9. Interrogative Adjective:-

An adjective used to express a question in a sentence is called an interrogative adjective. For example:- What, which, whose, who.

Exp:-  What a big house.

10. Exclamatory Adjective:- 

The adjective which is used in the sentence is used to describe the characteristics of the heart's feeling; it is It iscalled an Exclamatory adjective. Like- What  (!)

Exp:- What a big house!
